What Is Project Chat?

Every project in Taskade is a self-contained collaboration and communication space with an integrated chat. All team members invited to a project can jump right into the discussion or start a new chat in seconds.

Start a Team Chat

The chat box is located in the right-hand section of every project.

  1. Open a project and click the chat balloon icon πŸ’¬ in the bottom-right corner.

    • Use the buttons at the top to switch between the team chat πŸ’¬ / AI Chat πŸ€–.

  2. Type your message and press ⌨️ Enter or click the arrow button to send it.

Start a Private Chat

Did you know that you can create a private project for 1-on-1 chats and calls?

  1. Create a project in your private workspace or folder.

  2. Click Share (top-right) ➑ Invite to project.

  3. Invite participants via βœ‰οΈ Email or copy a direct link under πŸ”— Share Link.

  4. Start chatting!

πŸ’‘Note: Unless your project is in a shared workspace/folder, only the person you invite will be able to join. You can also turn off link sharing in the πŸ”— Share Link tab.

Create a Team Hub

Did you know that you can create a team hub for great conversations?

  1. Create a project in your private workspace or folder.

  2. Click the three dots Β·Β·Β· next to the project and select πŸ“Œ Pin to keep it visible.

  3. Click Share (top-right) ➑ Invite to project.

  4. Invite participants via βœ‰οΈ Email or copy a direct link under πŸ”— Share Link.

Hide / Resize Chat

  • Click the chat bubble icon πŸ’¬ or press ⌨️ ⌘ +\to hide/show the chat.

  • Left-click and drag the edge of the chat box to the left or right to resize it.

Upload Attachments

  1. (Method #1) Click the ☁️ Upload File button at the bottom of the chat window.

  2. (Method #2) Drag & drop a file to the chat window.

Send Screencast Videos

You can record your screen with the Screencast feature and attach the files directly to tasks, comments, and team chat. Here's how it works:

  • Open the project chat.

  • Click the Screencast button at the bottom of the chat.

  • Choose screencast from to pop-up menu.

  • Select which part of your screen you want to share.

  • Click Share to capture the screen.

Turn Off Chat and Comments

Don't want messages and comments in your projects? Here's how to turn them off:

  1. Open your project and click the settings icon (top right).

  2. Go to the βš™οΈSettings tab and use the sliders to edit chat/comments setting.

Use Markdown in Chat

You can use Markdown syntax to communicate with your team in the chat box. Add the following Markdown syntax to your text to apply Markdown to your messages

  • Block quote β€” > text

  • Code block β€” ```code```

  • Ordered list β€” 1. Item

  • Unordered list β€” +, *, -
