What are Agent Triggers?

Agent Triggers allow AI agents to initiate automated workflows during conversations. They also connect agents to to third-party tools to extend their functionality.

Converting Automations into Tools for AI Agents

The Agent Trigger within Automations is to be used in conjunction with Tools for AI Agents. Using an Agent Trigger in the automation flow will expose this automation as a tool that can be used by the agent.

For example, if Agent Trigger is used in an automation that contains a Google Sheet action, the automation will now become a tool that an AI Agent can use during the conversation.

Step 1: Setting up the Agent Trigger Parameters

Parameters are a way to divide and categorise information to be used in the subsequent Actions in the automation. In this example it is Title and Content. This will help the AI guess what should be placed in which parameter.

πŸ’‘ Note: There is currently no limit to the number of parameters in a trigger but you are advised to limit it to only what is necessary to have higher quality results.

Step 2: Referencing the Parameters

After the parameters are set up you can use them in the next Action, in this example it is referenced in the the input field for the Insert Row Google Sheets Action.

Step 3: Naming the Automation

Name the automation appropriately as the AI will use the name of the automation to decide when to be called. Next, add the automation to the an AI Agent's tool.

Step 4: Start a conversation with the AI Agent

Chat with the agent and mention the name of the automation for it call the tool.

Step 5: Approving the action

The example below shows how the parameters are used for the AI Agent to categorise the information given.

Th AI Agent will always ask for your approval before executing any automation. After you have reviewed the content, click Approve and continue with your workflow.
