Connect & Configure

Before you start building with Trello, you need to configure the integration.

  • Navigate to Workspace β†’ Automations in your app.

  • Click Create to build a new automation.

    • You can also prompt EVE to build the automation for you.

  • Add a Trello trigger / action/step.

  • Click Connect in the sidebar on the right and authorize Taskade.

    • If you have multiple boards, select the board you want to connect.

  • Configure and enable the automation (or continue adding steps).

Your Trello data is now available to automations and agents.

Trello Triggers

Use Trello triggers to automate your app's project logic, respond to card changes in real time, and create seamless board workflows.

Trigger

Description

New Card

Triggers when a new card is created on your Trello board

Card Moved

Triggers when a card is moved to a different list

Trello Actions

Build comprehensive board workflows with Trello actions. Create cards, update statuses, and search across boards using automations or AI agents.

Action

Description

Create Card

Create a new card in a specified list on a board

Update Card

Modify an existing card's fields, labels, or members

Search Cards

Find cards by name, label, member, or board

Use Trello with AI Agents

Your AI agents can call Trello actions as tools during conversations, allowing them to look up cards, retrieve board data, and respond with live information.

Configure Trello Tool

  • Connect Trello to your workspace (see above).

  • Open your agent β†’ Tools tab.

Prompt Examples

Your AI agents can use Trello actions as tools during conversations:

User: "Move the Onboarding Checklist card to Done."
Agent β†’ trello.update_card({name: "Onboarding Checklist", list: "Done"}) β†’ Card moved
Agent: "Done! I've moved the Onboarding Checklist card to the Done list."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I connect multiple Trello boards?

    • Yes. Connect each board separately in your workspace automations.

  • What authentication method does Trello use?

    • Taskade connects to Trello via OAuth or API Key + Token.

  • Is there a rate limit?

    • Taskade respects Trello's API rate limits. High-volume boards may want to use scheduled triggers instead of real-time triggers to stay within limits.
